Whether you are a newcomer to our school or an "old timer", we hope that you will find this information about our school helpful in understanding who we are, what we have to offer and how you can support your child's learning. Wolseley School is located in the West end of the city in a neighborhood known for its community spirit and involvement. It services the families who live in its catchment area which is bordered by Portage Ave. and the Assiniboine River, and stretches along Wolseley Ave. from Garfield St. to Raglan St., continuing beyond Omand Park along Wolseley Ave. West to St. James St. Wolseley School holds a lot of history for the people in this community as generations of families have passed through its halls. Visitors are immediately struck by the warmth of the hardwood floors, the wide hallways that are used as extensions of the classrooms, the natural lighting through our large windows, the French doors at the entrance to each classroom, and the brick exterior of the school. Recent renovations to the building have maintained the building's unique historical character. The construction of a new Multi-Purpose room, Adaptive Skills room and a larger gym are welcome additions to our school. This little elementary school is situated at the top of the hil overlooking a large playing field and a new play structure. The hill acts as a community meeting place and winter sled run. The field is also used after school hours for community soccer games. Our new Gym at the northwest corner holds a variety of community and sports events. This information also appears in our school handbook which is distributed to each new family joining the Wolseley School community.
