Wolseley School Building History

1921  Wolseley School was designed by Colonel John Semens to provide relief from the overcrowded classrooms at nearby Isaac Brock School and Laura Secord School. The 1921 structure has an area of approximately 14,600 square feet containing most of the classroom spaces.

 1959  A 3,900 square foot kindergarten/multi-purpose room addition is constructed at northeast corner of the facility. The project included replacement of the boiler and provision of a ventilation system.

 1974   The Division entered into an agreement with the City of Winnipeg Parks and recreation branch which permitted them to construct a 2,400 square foot portable addition at northeast corner of the school.

 1988    An 880 square foot portable classroom is added to the school.

 2003    The 1921 and 1959 structures are renovated; 8400 square foot addition is constructed.

q       Gymnasium 3400 sq. ft. for joint school and community use

q       Life skills/special needs facility 1200 sq. ft.

q       Multi-purpose room 1000 sq. ft.

q       Kitchen 200 sq. ft. with canteen style window and shutter

q       Ancillary space 2800 sq. ft. to include new custodial room and new accessible washroom
