Principals Message 2011
The intent of the William Whyte School is to provide a program that will teach students independence and equip them with the necessary life skills to become contributing members of our society. William Whyte School continues to be a vibrant community school where teachers, parents and students work as a team to provide the best opportunities for learning to occur.
The school year is filled with classroom and extra curricular initiatives in order for students to be engaged and enthusiastic about their learning. The school strives to implement practices that are diverse and conducive to all learning styles. Teachers are experienced in differentiating instructional teachings and assessment practices to increase student’s success rate, sense of pride and belonging to the community school. All staff have been in serviced and employ Restorative Practice approaches. These approaches will give students increased options for success not only in their development in academics but also in their social well being.
The parents at the school play a pivotal role in ensuring that community needs are voiced and met in due course. The Community Support Program plays a key role in ensuring the community’s social and cultural needs are met throughout the school year. All parents are encouraged to participate actively in providing the best learning for their children. Success for students is increased when parents become actively involved in their child’s learning.
The school employs many volunteers throughout the school year. The volunteers from the community and surrounding organizations help create the vibrancy the school has evoled to become over many years. All students, parents and staff continue to work towards making William Whyte Community School a safe place where students enjoy attending throughout the school year.
