The Pythagorean Theorem is an equation that helps you find the length of sides in a right-angled triangle. Examine the right-angled triangle below:
The pythagorean theorem as it relates to this triangle is: leg1² + leg2² = hypotenuse². It doesn't matter which side is leg1 and which side is leg2, but the hypotenuse is always opposite the 90° angle. In general, we use the formula a² + b² = c², where a and b represent the two legs, and c represents the hypotenuse. The pythagorean theorem DOES NOT WORK for any NON-right-angled triangles.
