The Life of Pi by Jann Martel

This is a story about a boy who survives a shipwreck and ends up drifting at sea with a boatful of exotic animals (including a Bengal tiger). Besides being a wonderful tale, this books makes you really think about religion and spirituality. I couldn't stop reading this book, once I had started!

The Case of Lena S. by David Bergen

Ths book tells the story of a sixteen year old boy coming of age in Winnipeg. He meets a girl, Lena, who has a profound effect on him. David Bergen is from WInnipeg and, because he set the story here, he uses a lot of familiar streets and landmarks. I enjoyed that and found the characters interesting as well.
