WAEC Hosts
Literacy Fair
On 28 February, WAEC hosted a Literacy Fair which featured performances and readings from such entertainers and authors as Beatrice Culleton-Mosionier, Michael Kusugak and Fred Penner. Our participants included students with their families and dignitaries from Winnipeg School Division's administration and its board of trustees.
Thank you to all our presenters and organizers.

Principal's
Message
Located in downtown Winnipeg
in a historic building with a distinctly
modern addition, the Winnipeg Adult Education
Centre (WAEC) has provided adults with a
second chance to graduate or improve their
academic preparation for post secondary pursuits.
Over 2200 adults each year access a variety
of programs through its Vaughan Street Campus,
the River/Osborne Off-campus Program, the
Basic Literacy Program at 700 Elgin, the
Adolescent Parent Centre, the Taking Charge
Program, and several English as an Additional
Language (EAL) Programs (including an evening
EAL Program at Vaughan Street campus).
Our students represent
a cultural and economic diversity and all
are seeking to improve their academic status.
To enhance student success, many adaptations
have been made to courses and scheduling.
Academic supports and counseling are offered and multiple intake points
are provided. Students identify the supportive
staff and welcoming atmosphere as major
reasons for their successes. In fact,
our staff members have frequently gone “the extra
mile” to afford students the opportunity to succeed.
The Winnipeg Adult Education Centre provides everyone with the opportunity
to pursue their dreams!
