At Victoria-Albert School we take our students' safety seriously. This is why we spend a lot of time training and supervising our patrols with the help of the Winnipeg Police Force. As a result our patrol teams take a lot of pride in their work and performance and it shows by the awards that they win. Laureen Schellenberg was the the patrol supervisor from 1990-2007 and it is more than coincidence that our patrols have done so well in both the WSD Competition as well as the City Wide Competition. Under her supervision our patrol teams have finished 1st in the WSD Competition every year since 1993. They have also finished 1st in the City Wide Competition 5 times: 1994/95, 1995/96, 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2006/2007. Those years where they did not finish 1st, they never finished lower than 4th. Dave Leochko and Sherry Sheppard have taken over the patrol duties as of 2007/2008 school year. Will they also be so successful?
This
picture was taken in 1996. This was the 2nd time Victoria-Albert won the City
Wide Competition. Mr. Fred Linklater, a former patrol at Victoria-Albert came to
the school to present the trophy in a special ceremony. Ronalyn Rollon, captain
that year, accepted the award. Beside her is co-captain Luul Fesehaye, Laureen Schellenberg
( patrol supervisor) and Mr. Brethauer (patrol co-supervisor).
