Catastrophe On The Gridiron

Early last season the St. John’s tigers running back Robert Pearson underwent a horrible injury during the season opener against DMCI. He had a great 50 yard run which was brought back because of an offside wide receiver which name is undetermined. What happened was Robert ran for the 50 yards and a member of the DMCI team jumped on his back, Robert and the DMCI member toppled over and Roberts’s leg snapped. It was undetermined by the refs whether or not it was a dirty hit, but the head coach of the tigers Brian Marks said that he watched the tape of the game over and over again and it was a clean hit he was not horse collared. In the interview with coach Marks he said that Roberts injury was a huge blow to the team and that it was very unfortunate he also thinks that next season Robert is going to be a dominant player. When Robert got out of the hospital coach Marks helped him with a lot of rehab for example taking him to yoga, football workouts such as ladders, takeoffs, and also helped him workout his legs and helped him stay connected with the team a lot throughout the season. When I talked to Robert he said that he had no idea that this horrible incident was going to happen, and he said when it did happen it took him a couple seconds to gather all the information. In the hospital Robert was trying hard not to think of the game or even football all together. I asked him if he liked his friends coming to see him in the hospital and he said that he kind of did but than again no because all they did was talk about the game even though he was happy that they won. He was really disappointed with the rest of the season and how it went. My final question to him was who would he like to thank for helping him out through this and he said the most obvious answer his head coach Mr. Marks. I also interviewed the quarterback Tyler Stewart who was also a team captain. In his interview he said that after Robert went down he felt like everything was going to be put on him since Robert was the offensive threat. The rest of the game for him was like a nightmare he was thinking of Robert the whole time but also trying to concentrate on the game at the same time he said that the team won the game just for Robert. Tyler commented that the rest of the season went bad because Robert wasn’t there in practices to take charge and also he wasn’t there to set the tone for the games which is why the season went downhill.
