LA Autobiography Assignment:
In LA you will be working on an autobiography assignment. The first part of your assignment will be a poem. You will have instructions from Ms. Olafson.
It is very important that you save this file in exacty the way you are instructed.
1. Open this Word file. The saving instructions will also be in the file. Delete them after you have successfully followed them. They are also below.
1. Click File, Save As. Click the My Computer icon and select the U: drive (you will see your username next to the Drive Letter).
2. In U: Drive, create a new folder by clicking on the new folder icon on the top of the page.
3.Name the folder: Autobiographyroom#username for example, Autobiography217johns
4. Open the folder, title your file: poemroom#username for example: poem217johns
IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE SAVE INSTRUCTIONS, YOUR POEM WILL NOT BE FOUND AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A MARK!
TROUBLE SHOOTING: Saving Problems
There were a couple of instances of error messages when some students tried to save. They were told that they could not save to U: drive. Here some suggestions to avoid this problem and solve it when encountered.
1. Once you have saved the file the first time, do not click Save As, for subsequent saves. Just click Save.
2. If you continue to get errors, try File, Save As and change the name of your file slightly by adding an extra number or letter to the end of the file name. For instance, poem217johns could be saved as: poem217johns1.
3. Open your netmail and mail the file to yourself as an attachment.
4. Click File, Save As and save to the D: drive on your machine. Create a new folder with your name and room number as the title, and save your file their. Tell your teacher that this is what you have done.
