lesson1.gif (1287 bytes)     Principal Images:  Picasso Style

Objectives:
1.  Students will have the opportunity to explore a paint program to illustrate an image of their principal.

2.  Students will use various menus to define line and color in producing an image of their principal.

Software:  Any "paint" program

Procedure:  Show students numerous portraits of people.  Encourage discussion emphasizing the five "W's".  When was it painted?  Why?   Where?  What?  Who?  Also discuss the various planes of a human face, i.e. cubism.

Demonstrate to the students, as a whole group, how to open the desired application.  Write out the script outlining these steps on chart paper to allow students to refer to.

Demonstrate the various menus/tools required to complete a portrait.  For example, various thicknesses of the paintbrush, options of color spills and defining custom colors.  Ask students to think about the above techniques as they create an image of their principal.

Evaluation:
Color print outs of completed portraits and posting portraits on the internet are encouraged for showcasing.  We would be more than willing to post it in our "Picasso Bin".
