Objective:
Students will be able to search for information and compile the information into a written report about the life of Picasso.

Time frame:
3 - 40 minute time periods

Procedure:
Collaborate with the school librarian. Teach students how one can access information using books, CD Rom's and the internet.

Discuss note taking and the revelence of jotting downimportant information. Read through books, dictionaries, and encyclopedias.

Introduce students to digital information available on CD Rom's and the internet. See Technology Lesson 4, Searching the Internet.

The final class involved the compilation of all the information for a written report.

Evaluation:
Were students able to find information in the library? Could they put that information into their own language so their peers could understand? Is the information complete?

PABLO PICASSO

Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain on October 25, 1881. His father was an art teacher and an artist. Picasso had three special gifts, a heart that loved everything, eyes that saw everything, and "Hands that could create great works of art".

Picasso was an artist who painted and sculpted. In his blue period he used a lot of the colour blue in his paintings. In his rose period he used a lot of the colour pink.

He painted in the style called cubism. He was the founder of Cubism. It was his idea. Cubism tries to show how much space something takes up. The shapes are hard and square. In his classical period from 1921 to 1927 he used rich, war colours and soft, round shapes.

He lived in France from 1904 until he died. He died in 1973.
