Graphing
Surveys
Objective:
Students will compile information about school principals using a tally system.
Students will use different types of graphs to display information.
Procedure:
Use the survey to collect information about principals.
Group the class into three groups. Each group will be responsible for one set of questions
(the principal, the school, and the participating class.) Compile the information and
tally it onto a spreadsheet.
Each group will graph their information onto chart paper to share with the class and
school. They will then create their graph on the computer (using a spreadsheet
program) and these can be posted on a web page.
Evaluation:
Were the students able to create a tally that allowed for all responses? Did
the tally accurately reflect the responses received? Could the students create a
graph to clearly display their results? Were they able to create their graph on the
computer? Could they read other student's graphs to find information?
