Picasso Principals
A lesson very similar to the
previous one, children draw portraits, tears them apart and put pieces together to create
an image of the principal.
To make a portrait of your school principal, he/she needs to come to your art room or
classroom and be the model. The children need to have the 'real thing' in front of
them so they can make a decent portrait.
Discuss the various portrait drawings from other artists as explained in previous
lessons. Discuss the elements, that is, line, texture, color, etc. Allow
children to use whatever medium (crayons, pastels, paint, markers, etc.) they wish.
Once they have finished, children must tear up their own work into approximately
five to six pieces and share their pieces amongst their classmates. Make sure
everyone has numerous pieces; an eye or two, a mouth, a nose, etc.
The students must then create a new image with their pieces of the principal in the style
of Picasso. Use a medium to finish up the job.
