In 1896, the Wesley Methodist College was built. It was later called United College. It was part of the United Church of Canada. In 1967 the United Colleges of Wesley and Manitoba became The University of Winnipeg. Then in 1970, more was added to the buildings. It is on Portage Avenue at Young Street. There are 2,700 full time students, 4,500 part time students and 2,800 summer students. They can get degrees in Arts, Sciences, Education and Theology. This University is very close to our school, Sister MacNamara. Every year we are asked to go there to work with their Education students. They have a big gym for their basketball games.- by Huy Nguyen - |
