The TD Centre
This building was started in June, 1988 and finished in August, 1989. It is a 33 storey office building that was designed by Musson Cattel Mackey and Charles Bentall. It is at the corner of Portage Avenue and Main Street. It is joined to a parking lot for 820 cars and underground shopping. The building is 420 feet high but the height to the top is 1,176 feet. It is the tallest building in Manitoba. It was built over and around the Telecommunication Building that was already there. The granite on the outside of the building came from Argentina. The marble inside came from Haulien, Taiwan. The Precast on the outside walls weighs 11,000,000 pounds. There are 1,900 windows. Over 2,250 people work in the building.-Trevor Bruyere - |
