Pantages Playhouse Theatre
The theatre was built in 1914. It opened on February 9. It was owned by Alexander Pantages. He was from Greece and he found gold in the Klondike. He built 17 theatres in North America. He closed it in 1923. It was opened again that same year. It has been used for concerts, recitals, films, operas, school productions the Winnipeg Little Theatre, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. The city of Winnipeg took over the building in the 1940s. A new addition was built recently. It is still used for a lot of entertainment.- Lan Trinh - |
