A long time ago, before history was written down people came to the Forks. It is called the forks because it where the Red River meets the Assiniboine River. People use to come here to trade. It has been a meeting place for over 6,000 years. In 1990, people were invited to an archaeological dig to find out about that time. The warehouse buildings were fixed up and are now an inside market. They sell food and crafts. There is a park with structures celebrating the meeting and trading place. People can walk along the river or go on the river in boats. It is open daily from 9:30 am - 6:30 p.m. and till 9:00 p.m on Friday.- Robert Rota - |
