Manitoba Provincial Legislative Building

The legislative building is located at 450 Broadway Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was designed by Frank Worthington and was built in 1913. On the grounds are many statues of famous people such as Queen Victoria, Louis Riel, Taras Shevchenko and Jon Sigerson.

On the top of the building is a statue called the Golden Boy. It is a statue of a boy holding a sheaf of wheat in his left hand. This statue came from France. It spent the First World War travelling back and forth from France to Canada in a ship. It finally arrived in 1920 where it was placed on the legislative building.

The Manitoba Legislative Building is a meeting place where laws are made. Canada has four major political parties: The Progressive Conservatives, The New Democrats, The Liberals and The Reform. These parties meet regularly to discuss provincial laws.
