What is Nunavut?

Nunavut is Canada's newest territory. The word nunavut means 'our land'. It is a vast territory which covers much of Canada's arctic region. There are many different people who live in this territory. This page has been developed to teach others many of the different aspects regarding modern day life in Nunavut.

Where is Nunavut?

Who is Jordin TooToo?

Jordin Tootoo is a world famous hockey player who comes from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Jordin played in the World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this year. So, don't be surprised if you recognize his picture from television. Click on his name to find out more on Jordin Tootoo.

Government

The government in Nunavut is a democracy, which is the same kind found in Manitoba and all of Canada. The government of Nunavut is called a Legislative Assembly. To learn more about who is elected into the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut click here.
