Chapter 6
Back Up Next

 By Ralph

The beginning of the chapter 6 is when Ellen said it’s her fault because she has black hair. Then Annemarie’s mom said don’t ever be sorry because you have dark hair. Mrs. Johansen began to make tea. Then Annemarie said that she hadn’t stayed up late before. She said that she and Ellen were going to be sleepy at school because they stayed up late. Then Annemarie’s dad said that they’re not going to school because the German soldiers might come to see if there are Jewish kids in the school.

At the middle of the chapter 6 Annemarie’s dad said that they’re going to a vacation where Uncle Henrik lives. Mama said she will go with the children but papa will stay home because if the apartment is empty the soldiers will go everywhere to see where they are with the Jewish girl. Then mama asked what the time was and papa said it was almost 5 o'clock.
Ellen asked, “Who’s Uncle Henrik?”
Then Annemarie said, “He’s my uncle- my mother’s brother”. When they were going mama said bye to papa and everybody said bye.

At the end of the chapter 6 they were all in the country. Annemarie’s mother was remembering when she was having fun with Helena her best friend. Henrick told them ghost stories and teased them. They saw Uncle Henrick’s house in a clearing in the woods. So all of Annemarie’s family and Ellen ran to Uncle Henrick’s house.
