By Ashley This
chapter is about Annemarie running through the path.
She got stopped by the soldiers who took the bread from her basket and
fed it to the dogs. Annemarie still was pretending to be a silly little girl who
was taking her Uncle’s lunch to him. The dogs were tense and alert. They ate
the bread in no time at all. The soldiers talked to each other. Annemarie was
mad at the soldiers.
Later, when she got to the boat she told her uncle about the soldiers. Annemarie could not see or hear the Rosens. He said all is well because of you. Run back home and tell your mama I will see you this evening. “They took my bread, eh?” he said, “I hope they choke on it.”
