In the beginning of chapter 2, Annemarie is telling Kristi a story about a King and a Queen, and their beautiful daughter.  Kristi is interrupting every second.  Annemarie heard Kristi’s heavy breathing when she was asleep.  Annemarie then remembered when her sister and her waved at King Christen X and he waved back.  She recalled how Lise said that she was special because he waved back. 

In the middle of chapter 2, Annemarie is thinking of what her father told her.  Her father told her what a teenage boy said to a solider.  The soldier asked. “Who is the man who rides through the town every morning?” 
The boy told him that he is our King.  The soldier asked, “Where is his bodyguard?”  The teenage boy told him that all of Denmark is his bodyguard.

  At the end of chapter 2, Annemarie remembered her big sister, Lise and Peter.  She thought of Peter, who was always in a hurry and not as much fun anymore.  She thought the whole world changed. Fairy Tales only remain the same.  Annemarie told her little sister that they lived happily ever after.  She looked over at Kirsti who was fast asleep with her thumb in her mouth.
