Terry Sawchuk

Terry Sawchuk is a hero because he won the Stanley Cup 5 times and he won the Vezina Trophy 3 times for being the best goalie in the NHL.
 
Early Life:
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1929 on December 28th.  His first game was January the 8th, 1950.  He turned pro at the age of  17.

Later Life:
He died in May 31, 1970 in New York. He had a left glove hand. He played for the Detroit Red Wings. He had 103 shutouts.

Accomplishments:
A hockey arena in East Kildonan was named the Terry Sawchuk Memorial Arena. He was rookie of the year in 1951.  He won the Vezina trophy in 1951-52, 1952-1953 and 1954-1955, althogether 4 times.  He was voted all time goalie 3 times. and he played in the all star game 11 times.  He was inducted into the hockey hall of fame in 1970.
