Information Finder -
Encyclopaedia On Line

In 1994, the World
Book Information Finder CD-ROM Encyclopedia was placed on the network for
the Junior High and library. Since then, classes have discovered
the power of researching on the same or on different topics at
the same time on the network. In November, 1995, a Multi-media
version was installed in the new Elementary Windows 95 Lab. In
1999, new versions were updated to all the school network,
including classes. Over the years, this is has been a reliable
resource in many areas as shown by our commitment to have access
on the full school network.
An article, entitled "Information Finder - CD", in
"Bits and Bytes", October 1995, provides more
information on this CD-ROM Encyclopedia.
Note making to be used later in other programs is easy if "Notepad" is
chosen. It's non-formatted style is well suited for easy not making. For some very helpful ideas on using Notepad, click on this link.
In 2004, classes started accessing the WorldBook Online (the
link requires ID and a password). The Online version is
accessible at home and at school. Students doing the new 3R's (read,
research and report) can enquire online for information updates and this
is better than the dated files on a CD-ROM. The Indian Ocean 2004 Tsunami
demonstrated this to the Junior High students in Computer Studies classes. This
has been renewed for the 2006-2007 school year.
