Do
you have many places for recreation? Yes, we
have many recreation buildings. We
have Sargent Park Pool, Skating Oval for speed skating, Sargent Park Arena,
Assinniboine Skating Pond, Goldeyes Baseball Stadium, Burton Cummings Community
Club, Clifton and Issac Brock Community Club, bowling alleys, Sherbrook Pool,
the YMCA pool, and much more. Do
you live in a city or rural community? We have
a city community. Do
you like living in a Winnipeg community? Why? We like living in Winnipeg because there’s lots of
swimming pools and shopping malls. It
is safer than the United States. There are no tornadoes and there is lots of
electricity. There are lots of ice cream stores. What
kind of building do you live in?
Some live in houses, some in apartments and some in hotels and one person lives
in a Church. What
games do you play in your community?
Computer games, video games, board games, and sports. Also gymnastics, hockey,
basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer and tennis. How
do you keep your community safe? We keep
our community safe by arresting the people that are bad. We pick up garbage and
we make sure we have police and fire stations spread out throughout the city. How
do you have fun in your community? We have
fun by going swimming, and playing lots of games. We like to go skating. We like
to play sports like basketball. How
long does it take you to get to the nearest hospital? About
three-five minutes. What
are some safety rules at your school? What
types of transportation do you have in your community? Where
do you get your food? We buy
food at Safeway, Walmart, Costco, SuperStore, 7Eleven, IGA. How
do you maintain your roads? The
city comes and fixes our roads. In the winter we put down sand and salt to stop
slipping. What
weather do you have in your community? What
do you carry your school supplies in? We use
one or two strap backpacks. How
do you get to school everyday? One of
us takes a school bus and most of us walk to school.
Some of us get driven to school in a car or sometimes a taxi. What
kind of school do you go to? Our
school is from Nursery to Grade 9. We are a large public school with about 840
students. Were
do you get your clothes in your community? We buy
our clothes at the Polo Park Mall, Walmart, Zellers, La Senza Girl, Gap, What
kind of organized sports do you belong to? Hockey,
bowling and soccer. Do
you have 911? Yes we
have 911. Where
do you get your water from in your community? We get
our water from Shoal Lake. It comes
to Winnipeg in a pipe and we have treatment places in Winnipeg to clean the
water. How
do you get to the hospital if you are having a baby? In a
car. What
do you learn at school? We
learn Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, Reading, Spelling, Morning
Exercises (Calendar), Gym, Computer, Music, Library. How
do you fight fires in your community? There
are firemen at the fire station and they come in a fire truck. What
games do you play in your community? We play
tag, hide and seek, mystery game, 4 square, Structure Tag, How
far is the fire station from your house? The
fire station is one or two streets from our houses. What
kind of clothes do you wear throughout the year? How
do you get to the hospital in your community? We get
to the hospital by car, taxi, or ambulance. How
often do you get your teeth taken care in your community? What are Fire Stations used for?
