School Patrols

Our school patrols are out on duty each day at 8:15 a.m., 11:20 a.m., 12:20 p.m and 2:55 p.m.  Patrols are there to help all children cross the street safely.  We ask parents not to send children before patrols go on duty.   Students at the school are expected to comply at all times and to lodge complaints with the patrol supervisor.

Street Proofing

Teachers are urged to take a few minutes a week to go over important safety rules with the children.   A sheet of information called "Street Proof your Children: Helpful Rules to Keep Young People Safe" comes from the police department.  Every year, a copy of this sheet is sent out to all parents with the first newsletter.

School Hours

    Morning    8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten children in                                                                attendance

                    8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Grades 1 to 8 children in attendance

                    11:30 a.m. - 12:30 a. m. Parent Lunch Program

                    12:30 a.m. -  Grades 1 to 8 children in attendance

In the morning, there is playground supervision from 8:05 a.m.

For their own safety, children should be at school only when supervision is provided.

During the lunch hour, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., parents provide supervision for the children who are in the lunch program.   All children who are not part of the lunch program must not be in the school yard during the lunch hour.

    At 3:00 p.m.  a teacher is on supervision from 3:00 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. only.

    Attendance

Regular attendance and punctuality contribute to a good learning environment.  Absences and lateness are upsetting for youngsters as it disrupts their schedules, the teacher and the other students in the classroom and it slows down learning.  It is the responsibility of the parents / guardians to make sure that students come to school on time.  All children have a right to a good education.

Another difficulty that we encounter is when children stay away from school for long periods of time due to trips.  It would be greatly appreciated if these trips could be made during the Winter Break, Spring Break, or during July and August.
