In dual track schools, the curriculum of the Immersion program is parallel to and has the same general objectives as the English program. Our immersion program, called "Early Immersion" because it starts at Kindergarten or grade one, is intended to provide 8000 hours of instruction by the end of grade twelve. The linguistic and cultural objectives of the French Immersion program are to develop functional bilingualism in children whose first language and culture are not French. While our target goal is approximately 75% of the school day in French, our school is slightly under that due to instruction in English in physical education, music and computer. |
