A
birth certificate and a Manitoba Medical Card are required prior to
acceptance into either program. In some instances, proof of address may be
required.
Our
programs are activity-based, child-centred and play-oriented and follow
developmentally appropriate Early Childhood practice. Our goal is to
provide a warm, caring, nurturing environment that addresses itself to the
needs of the whole child; physically, emotionally/socially and
intellectually.
Each
program is two and a half hours per day, either 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. or 1:00
- 3:30 p.m. Whether a class will be morning or afternoon depends upon a
variety of factors, including availability of the teacher, enrolment
numbers and classroom space.
It
is policy that Nursery children be picked up by an adult, as they will not
be dismissed unaccompanied. Kindergarten children will not be dismissed
unaccompanied unless specifically requested, in writing, by parents.
Snack
is provided in the Nursery program. Kindergarten children are encouraged
to bring their own small, nutritious snack daily.
Gym
activities are a regular part of the program and therefore white-soled or
non-marking runners are required.
Children
should have a bag to carry home art projects, letters, or other forms of
school communication.
Entering
interviews with parents and children are held the first days of school in
order to familiarize parent(s)/guardian(s), students and teachers with
each other and with the program. Children attend school for 1 hour on the
first day following the interviews to assist them to make the adjustment
to school.
No
written reports are given during the Nursery years. In Kindergarten there
are written reports in March and June. A minimum of two student led
conferences or parent/teacher interview times are scheduled by the school
to discuss individual children's progress. Additional exchanges can be
arranged upon request with individual teachers.
We
accept registrations in the school office throughout the school year.
