"Keeping Hope Alive"

• I know my full name, phone number, and complete address. I know that I can use any phone to call "911" and "0" without using money.
• I know my family "Secret Code Word" and know not to go with anyone, for any reason, who doesn't use the "Secret Code Word".
• I know not to put my name on any clothing, caps, jackets, etc. where people can see it.
• I know not to play in isolated areas or take short-cuts through dangerous or deserted areas.
• I know to always let my parents know where I am going. I know not to go door-to-door selling without an adult.
• I know to walk on the left facing traffic so that I can see if a car stops near me.
• If I am home alone and the phone rings, I know never to let a stranger know I'm home alone and say "My mother/father can't come to the phone right now."
• If someone I know, a friend or neighbor, asks me to come into their house or go somewhere with them. I know to ask my mom or dad first.
• I know never to help a stranger with directions, fix their car, find their lost pet or let a stranger take my picture.
• I know never to go with a person who says they are a police officer if they are not in uniform and have a police car, even if they show a badge.
• I have the right not to be touched in ways that make me feel uncomfortable, I have the right to say "NO" and I know I have the right to get help.
• I know always to tell mom/dad if something happens that makes me feel uncomfortable, or if an adult tells me to keep a secret.
