Family Trees
By Karly

In April Room 105’s teachers, Ms. Goldberg and Mrs. Barr, had an idea. Their idea was so good. It was to make a Family Tree. They first started by cutting out pieces of card board. They cut out two pieces of cardboard per tree. Ms Goldberg slowly handed out pieces of cardboard to each individual. Each two pieces of card board had letters on it. Ms.Goldberg told us that we had to get 8 pictures of our family, friends and pets on the tree. Students brought pictures to school and scanned and printed out the pictures. Our next step was to glue the pictures onto our tree. Once we were done gluing the pictures we took tissue paper and put them on a pencil and put glue on the bottom. Then we glued the two pieces together and put them out for Parent Teacher Conferences.

The other schools that went were Champlain, Inkster and Faraday. We did drills from 10:00 o’clock to 12:00 o’clock. We took a break for 20 minutes in the cafeteria. Then we did some more drills and played games. Ralph Brown totally dominated. Then they gave us prizes and we left.

Mother's Day
By Nikki

Mother’s Day is a day where you should not make your mom do much. People give their mom gifts to show their appreciation. At school, different classes did different crafts for their mom. Some families also like to go out for dinner to celebrate. This gives their mom a break from cooking.

Mother’s Day was on May 9th. In room 105, they made credit cards which were for chores that a son or daughter could do around the house when their mom used the card. They also made tea pot cards and candle holders out of plant pots. They painted them with an acrylic paint and when it was done they painted it with poegy. They also made vases. They put paper mache on a jar and painted sea shells and glued it on the jar. Some kids woke up early and cooked their mom breakfast. They also took care of everything around the house.

By Marcie

On May 10th, Barabolya came to our school once again. Ron Cahute and Ihor Baczynskyj are the two singers in Barabolya. They sing songs in Ukrainian which helps children learn a few words in that language. They started off by first singing their theme song Barabolya. While they sang a big potato came out and danced with Mrs. Adams. That was funny. Then they sang "I`m Hungry Now", which is a song about their lunch. They also sang their other songs like Azbooka, Kowbasa/oseledtsee, Chicken Dance, and I'm Hungry Now. It was a fun way for us to learn some Ukrainian words. Everyone enjoyed them.
