This February is Book Alert Month and from February 19th to February 26th Mrs.Adams, Mrs.Weightman and a few students were organizing the event. The students were to read as many books as they could and then fill out a book-print. Our goal was to get a trail of book-prints taped from the wall by the gym doors and by the primary recess doors to reach all the way to Mrs. Adams’ office. If our goal is fulfilled Mrs.Adams would have to go to all the rooms in her bookmobile and read the students stories. Our goal was fulfilled and I think all students had a great time listening to Mrs.Adams’ beautiful stories. Happy Reading!

The Banning of Wrestling
By Justin

Kids were very upset when they heard that teachers were trying to ban wrestling from television. The teachers were trying to ban it or trying to put it on a later time. The teachers watched it and said it was very inappropriate for young viewers. Wrestling today isn’t the way it was back in like the 70’s. Kids really like wrestling and that is mostly what they talk about. It’s also something to think about when they are at school or anywhere else that they are at. Some kids even choose wrestlers as their idol. Like some of my friends. Wrestlers need the support of fans of wrestling and if teachers just let kids watch wrestling kids will be very happy and I mean VERY happy. Also people that don’t go to school will be very upset and I mean VERY upset. So teachers should let kids watch wrestling. I’m Justin signing off.

St. Patrick’s Day
By Arlene

The Day St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated is on March 17th. St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish holiday. The color most people wear on this day is green. They celebrate this holiday to celebrate the patron of Ireland, St. Patrick. This is a very special holiday celebrated in Ireland and also celebrated in big cities with a large Irish population. On this holiday the people in Ireland show how they honor St. Patrick by going to community services, attending home gatherings, going to religious services and wearing shamrocks. In the U.S.A., St. Patrick’s Day is a nonreligious holiday but they still celebrate it by having home gatherings and March parades. The first St. Patrick’s Day celebration was in Boston and the largest celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S.A. was in new York. On this holiday there is a legend that if you find a leprecaun, the leprecaun has to give you his pot of gold. He tells you where he hid it and then tells you to get a shovel. When you go and get a shovel he promises to stay in his spot and says that he will tie a red scarf on the bush but when you come back there is a red scarf on all the bushes and you’ve just be fooled.

St. Patrick’s Day Party
By Kasia

St. Patrick’s Day is a special because Mrs. Barr and Ms. Goldberg are going to give us a St. Patrick Day Party. During the last couple of weeks room 105 has been displaying their best behavior. I think our party is going to be a blast! On Valentines Day Mrs. Barr and Ms. Goldberg made a Kool-Aid punch which was red with strawberries in it so I think Mrs. Barr and Ms. Goldberg will make green Kool-Aid with grapes or kiwi. They might use 7-UP in the punch. I hope this party goes as well as the Valentine’s Party!

Sable’s Babies
By Ardelle

On Monday, March 1st, Sable, Room 105’s rabbit, received two new born bunnies. Ms. Goldberg was keeping Sable when the veterinarian told her that Sable was pregnant. Room 105 was excited and happy. The veterinarian told Mrs. Barr and Ms. Goldberg that she was pregnant a long time ago. The way that you could know that a rabbit is pregnant is that their hair falls out and the female eats more than what she eats normally. One of the bunnies were whitish gray and the other was brown. Ms. Goldberg is taking pictures everyday to see how it develops into a bigger rabbit. Ms. Goldberg gave us a picture of the exact same picture to everyone in room 105. It showed us a picture of the whitish greyish bunny in Ms. Goldberg’s hands. We were all very sorry, because one of the bunnies died on Wednesday, March 3rd. It was the brown bunny and it died because it was smaller than the other bunny. Ms. Goldberg and her boyfriend were kind enough to bury the bunny in a park. All the kids in Room 105 want to keep the bunny that survived in the class for another pet rabbit but Mrs. Barr and Ms. Goldberg told us that we would give the bunny to a responsible adult!

Puppet Making At the Festival
By Justin

On February the 19th, 1999, Room 105 went to the Festival Du Voyager. When they arrived they made puppets. They made them out of wood. The puppets were made out of wood. They used, screws, wood, screwdrivers, hammers, cloth and markers to decorate the puppets.

First they took the legs and hammered the legs together. Then they took the legs and screwed them into the body. Then they took the arms and put them on the body of the puppet. They didn’t connect the head because the head was already on the bodies. Then they decorated them with the markers and cloth that they had and then they were finished.

Japanese Lanterns
By Marko

Room 105 were making Japanese lanterns. It was very easy to make and we did it in one day. First we had a piece of paper and started to draw or color in what we wanted. After we did the beautiful decorations we folded the paper in half the long way and cut strips. After we cut the strips we opened the paper. Then we folded it in half the other way and stapled it together. It still was not done. There was just one more thing, we had to put a black piece of paper at each end to make it nicer.  They are displayed outside of Room 105.

The best stuff to do to your hair is stuff like clips, head bands, and claw clips. But putting your is always in style, make sure it’s not too flat and looks like your hair is plastered to your head. That’s a big fashion no no!!
