Science Fair
By Katrina
This year on March 9th, 2000, Ralph Brown School had to have the
Science Fair in the hallways due to the gym being painted. The
organizers of the Science Fair were Mr. Chubey and Mr. Charney. This
year 63 Science Fair projects were entered and only a few could be
picked to enter in the Tec Voc Science Fair. Congratulations to all the
people who entered the Science Fair and a special congratulations to the
people who won in this years Science Fair. There were a lot of judges
including some of the teachers. Each student that competed was judged
three times! Some people won first place, second place, third place and
some people were luckily enough to get an honorable mention. We want to
thank all the people that entered the Science Fair and Mr. Charney and
Mr. Chubey for all their hard work. There were a lot of interesting
projects that entered this year. Some of the projects that won 1st place
were best filters, puma, one about the flavors of ice-cream and many
others. You had your basic Science Fair projects there such as space,
volcanoes, electricity, gravity and of course crystal formation plus
many others. There were different projects there such as how birds fly,
wild horses, a project about pioneers, weighing scales and many others.
Everybody that entered in the Science Fair even if the won first place
or something got a Participation ribbon. They were all very well done
and even if you did not win anything you should be proud especially if
you entered in the competitive section and have to go through that long
wait. The judges had a lot of projects to judge so we would like to
thank them as well. They did a very good job in judging all 63 projects!
The Science Fair was a success thanks to all of them. Thanks again and
congratulations to the people who won! People who did not win better
luck next year.
Book Fair
Ardelle
On March 2 and 3, the Ralph Brown Library held a Book Fair. The Book
Fair had books such as Pokemon Handbook, Animorphs and many more! It
also had posters and accessories! This years Junior Achievers helped set
up the books and cases. They spent some of their free time helping Ms.
Weightman set up the books. After the Book Fair, selected students from
the Junior Achievement program that helped out received a book. They
also had draws in the classrooms. Some of the Junior Achievers who
helped out were Audrey Candelaria, Gail Licmo, Marko Senchuk, Kyler
Funk, Janet Adamana and Jehremie Marquez. Thank you Junior Achievers!
Tour of St. John's High
By Audrey
On Thursday March 16th, the grade 6 students of Ralph Brown had a
tour at St. John’s High. The grade 6 students got a little idea of
what St. John’s is like. The students from Mrs. Duffy’s class and
the grade 6’s from Mr. Charney’s class went on the tour. They went
to St. John’s and got to see where the classes were, and got to meet
some of the teachers that work there. They got to see the cafeteria.
They got to see what kind of subjects they could choose from. They even
got to see our former grade 5 teacher, Mrs. Barr. Most of the grade 6
students are going to St. John’s.
