Brad, Andrew and Justin Fr. stayed here.  Here is some of their experiences.

Brad - This is funner than the waterslides, I enjoyed riding on the quad.  I saw cattle.  Horse poop is very gross but I got used to stepping on it and kicking it.  I almost walked into Badger. (one of the horses)  I was looking down so that I wouldn't walk on horse manure.

Justin- That was cool when I saw that dead cat. You could see it's ribs smashed in.  It was mostly bones and you could see the skull!  There was a whole bunch of horse, cow and rabbit poop all over the place.  I was looking at one horse and the other one pushed me off the fence.  I think it was jealous. (Mr. Burles figures that it was looking for food in his pockets)

Andrew - I had fun riding on the quad.  I really liked looking at the horses.  I petted them and fed Badger.  I saw around 16 deer and a lot of cattle.  There were very cool hills and mountains in the background.  We saw some pretty cool dogs.  We went into the hills and covered gopher hills.

Patrick Burles:

I thought it was pretty cool to have these guys here because I see deer and I think OH NO!  These guys were thrilled.  I have to watch out when I'm driving.

Lorne Burles:

I thought it was interesting.  It makes you appreciate the things you have.  We are so used to it we don't notice it any more. (As we type this, we look out the living room window and see the mountains)

Mrs. Burles:

Boys are boys.  It doesn't matter if their from the city or not.  They still like the same gory things.

Mr.  Burles:

I was surprised how these kids were the same.  They're from the city but they are still pretty much the same.  They still like to do the same things - they like to go into the barn and go into the loft.

THIS SUMMER IS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RANCH IN THE BURLES FAMILY!!  There is going to be a big celebration with the whole family in August.

THE CRAIGS: (Brittany F and Jessica were there with Mrs. Yaeger

We stayed with the Craigs.  They had a cat and a parrot.  The cat doesn't bother the parrot at all.  The cat's name is Tia.  The bird's name is Zoe.  We played truth or dare with Kayla.  Jessica had to hug Josh as her dare.  She patted him on the arm the next day.  Kayla wanted more but Brittany said that was ok.  We wrestled on her bed and had a pillow fight.  Nobody really won, we just had fun!  Feathers were flying everywhere.

We tried to get the bird to talk but it wouldn't but then in the morning it woke us up by making an alarm clock sound and saying: "Wake up girl."  We said no and then he said "Spank You!"  We thought he was saying thank you but it was an "S".  When they try to put it in the cage it says "NO!"  It can also say: "Hey Baby", "Hello" and it can say "Kayla" in a normal voice and it can scream Kayla.  When Mrs. Yaeger woke, Zoe was talking like crazy.  Tia was really attached to Jessica.  It didn't like Brittany because she had her dogs scent on her.

This morning Mrs. Yaeger took a really cool picture of us with Kayla hanging upside down!  On our way to school we went to the store and bought a whole bunch of junk!

The Layton's: (Samantha, Maxx, Gordie & Mr. Waldie)

First we went to the Dunkin's and saw a peacock and llamas.  They had a parrot there that could undo knots.  We got to hold the parrot.  We each got to pick a peacock feather before we left.  Then we went back to the Layton's.

At the Layton's we went on the computer and played on Nintendo.  We played Sim City 3 and NHL 2000.  Then we got ready for bed at 10:00. Maxx slept with the girls in the doorway of their room in the hallway.

In the morning Samantha was the first one ready followed by Gordie.  We played with the dogs for a while.  The dog named Zac gave us rides....  He really did!  He was a big bulldog!  We had Yogurt & Cereal for breakfast.

The Swans: (Taylor, Josh)

We spent the first half hour talking with Danica, Niomie, Nolan and Darien about Winnipeg and the different TV channels.  We compared a lot of things between Lundbreck and Winnipeg.  Then we watched Stargate and we got ready for bed and went to bed at 9:30.  The cat, Angel stayed with us.  It is 20 years old. The dogs were licking us and the cats tackled and scratched the dogs because they were jealous.  It was pretty funny.

Next morning we packed our stuff.  We went outside and brought the dogs for a walk.  Their names were Cole and Pouka.   Cole went after two different dogs named Jack and Pip.

The Dennis': (Marcien, Jordan, Arthur)

The first thing we did was go outside and fly kites. And then they asked if we wanted to go to Frank Slide.  That was a mountain that was being mined underneath and then a slide happened and crashed the town.  The found a baby on top of the rocks that did not die.  The rocks were a hundred feet deep.  Arthur and Marcien picked up a piece of rock from the slide to keep as a souvenir.

The Dennis' have 17 year old girl and a fifteen year old boy.  We got to eat pizza and then we watched TV.  We got to have some lemonade and rice krispies squares, then we went to bed.

For breakfast we had bacon, eggs, hash browns, bagels, french toast and milk.  It was delicious.   The dog ate some too, but they were the left overs.  They have a dog with only three legs because he was run over.  The also have a cat named Slick.

The Gascoyne's:  (Tristan, Lawrence stayed with Miss Rudolf)

When we first got there we played on the swings and saw the horses.  Their daughter gave us some bones from a skunk head and a mouse head.  Tristan also got a deer jaw.  The skunk head still smells like skunk.

The Gascoyne's had four cats.  One of their cats was 16 years old.  We saw hummingbirds.  They were right outside the window.

We got to feed the horses apples.  They had two horses, but they were not really their horses they just take care of them for a friend.

We went to see a pond with frogs in it.

We had pizza for supper and got to watch a movie with their two kids.  They are nine and six.  They were both girls.  They live in an old log house with a wood stove.  They also had an old fashion phone.  They want to keep it as original as can be because it was made by a special man.

Before bed we checked the Prairie Journey website.  Then when Tristan tried to go to bed he found a cat trying to get into the sleeping bag.

The Dyer's:  (Rebecca D. and Mallory)

First we went to see the huge windmills.  After we went to have some ice cream and bought magazines.  Later we went to their house and jumped on the trampoline until 11:30.  Then we fed the cows some hay.

After the cows we went back into the house and read magazines until we went to bed.

The Dyer's had two cats and one cow.  The get one every fall and then sell it.

Their neighbour had a dog named Rosie that we got to play with.  Rosie was a sheep dog puppy.

For breakfast we had a ham and cheese omelet. Mallory had hers with mushrooms but not Rebecca.  They were really nice and their going to email us.

The Johnson's:  (Rebecca B., Mercedee, Stephanie they stayed with Mrs. Clayton)

Yesterday when we went to the Johnson's house they had a little girl and a boy.  The boys' name is Paul (he's two) and the girls' name is Claire (she's four).  Their we found out that Claire was a good talker.  She told us about how she had a little tail at the back of her head but she had to cut it off and her hair cut person was silly because she said she had a tail. She also told us that their grandma always makes strawberry jam in the morning.

Paul likes to be a dragon and chase us around and throw teddy bears at us.  If you take the teddy bear away from him he would cry and not stop until he got it back.

In the evening we had brain surgery using Paul's tools. Then we read a bed time story and we all went to bed.  As soon as Stephanie fell asleep Mercedee and Rebecca ate some candy.  Stephanie had a nightmare about The Potty book.  Which is about a kid who is learning how to use a potty but keeps missing it.

For breakfast we had toast, cereal and fruit. They were a fun family.  Rebecca had been scared to sleep over at somebody's house that she didn't know but now she wants to do it again.

Livingstone School Gym (April, Madelene, Kaylee, Lisa L, Justin R. they stayed with Mr.Schawab, Mrs. Latour and Miss Zebrasky)

We went for a walk down the street to the rail road tracks and we got to pet some horses. We whistled with grass during our walk and that's when the horses came. Dave (one of our chaperones) was going to stop at a house and ask them to make us some cinnamon buns so we could be sitting and eating the last one when everyone else returns from their billets. But he didn't.   We later watched a movie called An Irish Legend.  It was good, it was about a little boy that got sent into the ocean and taken away. His cradle had been left by the ocean and the tide took it away.

In the gym we played with the soccer ball and shot hoops.

In the morning we went for breakfast at a restaurant and Maureena and Dave helped to cook in the kitchen.  We ate hash browns, bacon, toast, and eggs.  Outside of the restaurant there were three dogs.  One of them growled at Madelene when she tried to pet it.   The other two were friendly.  One was a golden retriever.

Justin moaned in his sleep.  Kaylee woke up in the middle of the night and it looked like she was sleep walking.  But it turns out she only had to go to the bathroom.

The P    (Andrew S.M., Jesse )

We got to drive a quad and we broke three laws on a quad.  Jesse also road a horse and got hair all over himself.  It was an old hairy white horse.  And they also had a chinchilla named Chico and a dog named Sadie.

We got to see a whole bunch of cattle.  We found buffalo bones and we got them in our bags.

The family we stayed with had two kids named Reed and Rio.  They had a creek near their house and we went down to see it.  They also had what looked like a few hundred bulls.

We ate frostios, canteloupe and eggs for breakfast.

The Wind Walker Ranch ( Terry and Lynette Duncan)

They had two large dogs that greeted us upon our arrival. Mr. Waldie,
Maxx, Gordie and Samantha came by with the Laytons to look at the llamas
and the peacocks. They have two talking parrots. When we were waiting
for the Laytons and company to come up to the ranch Justin, Mr. Duncan
and I went into the house. One of the parrots makes a noise like a
telephone ringing because she wanted Lynette to come in. Then she
started saying hello. When company arrived Mrs. Duncan let the children
each take a turn at holding the parrot. They all got to take home a
feather from the peacocks as well as a parrot feather for a souvenir of
their visit. Justin had fun playing with the dogs too.
