Lunch Program
 Home

The lunch program is run by the Norquay School Parent Council.  Fees are used to pay the lunch supervisors and from time to time to buy equipment, which is used for the program such as a microwave oven.  It is not run for profit.

1.   Fees are $20.00 per month for the first child in a family.  For each additional child in the family it is another $10.00 per month.

2.   Fees are due on the first school day of the month.

3.   Reminder notices of unpaid fees are sent out in the middle of each month.

4.   If, after two reminders, fees remain unpaid, a final notice will be sent informing parents that alternate lunch arrangements will have to be made.

5.  Children may be reinstated in the lunch program only when all arrears have been paid in full.

HEALTHY EATING POLICY

We wish to inform you that several years ago the Norquay staff and parents unanimously adopted a Healthy Eating Policy.  We have declared the school's premises a "NO JUNK FOOD ZONE" - junk food being candy, gum, chips, etc.  We would like to give you the following reasons for this policy.

a)   Many of our children are very sensitive to sugar intake.   They may become agitated, "high strung" and experience difficulty concentrating on their lessons.

b)   We have a lovely school and beautiful neighbourhood!  Strewing these properties with wrappers and garbage is not showing our students appreciation and respect for property.

c)   Many return to school 10 - 15 minutes late due to trips to the corner stores.  We cannot supervise them during this time.

d)   Over the years, many parents have expressed appreciation for this policy, as it is difficult to decline a child's request for treats.

URGENT NOTICE

We at Norquay are seeking your assistance in helping us deal with a potential life threatening situation.  We have students who have severe allergies to any and all peanut products.  Any exposure to these products could produce a severe illness or life threatening situation for the students.

Therefore, any peanut or peanut products are NOT to be brought to school for lunches or snacks.  This includes Peanut Butter sandwiches or any other food containing peanuts.  (This includes items for special days such as Halloween or Valentine's Day).

We appreciate your understanding and assistance in this matter by not sending any peanuts or peanut products to school with your child.  If you have any further questions or are unsure of a product please feel free to contact the school at 943-9541 for further information.  Thank you for your help.  ww.wsd1.org
