Reading is important to me for a lot of reasons. Reading can be fun and educational. When your reading something like 'Nancy Drew' you read it for pleasure but it helps your vocabulary and your spelling also without you realizing or noticing it. Sure t.v. can do that to, but reading has done that from the very beginning. T.V. shows you and you know your learning but sometimes you remember or learn things quicker by reading. T.V. shows you a picture while reading doesn't. Visualize people visualize. It's good to visualize because it keeps your brain happy and healthy and will make it work and not slack off. The brain can benefit more from a book than a t.v. Education is important and books are a good source to rely on. Why I picked Gordon Kormans book: Book 1 of the Island Trilogy: Shipwreck. I picked this book for a couple of reasons but especially because it's different!!! For example the setting, why the kids are there, basically the whole ide of being on a ship! First of all Shipwreck, a lot of authors have tried but Gordon did it the best. When Gordon Korman wrote this book he wrote it very well. He wrote it so well that I felt I was one of those kids in the book. I like a lot of books but this book grabbed me and said: I'm a great book, I'm different from everything else you read and I'm done by a canadian author. This book stands above all the other books I've read.
