This is how the Plains Teepee was built.

A teepee was constructed by using

Materials

-sinew

-rocks

-buffalo hide

-pegs

-10-23 poles

-rope

-toggles

Steps

Step1: Three main poles were raised and tied together to form a cone shape.

Step2: 10-20 more poles were added, tied at the top and joined between the three main poles.

Step3:10-20 pieces of buffalo hide are sewn together with sinew.

Step4: The buffalo hide is placed over the poles.

Step5: The buffalo hide is closed tightly by tying it together with toggles.A small part is left open for a door.

Step6: There was a smoke flap at the top of the teepee that could be adjusted depending on how much smoke you wanted to be let out.

Step7: The teepee is held down by pegs and then they would put rocks around the bottom of the teepee to keep it in place.

Interesting facts

-Afew women could erect a teepee in five minutes.
