| To create tessellations using paint:
1. Use the rectangle tool to draw a fairly small rectangle on your page. You
will need to have room to copy this rectangle several times.
2. Use the free-form select tool to cut your rectangle into two pieces
horizontally. Make the cut wavy to create an interesting shape. |
 |
 |
3. Drag the cut portion to the other side of your rectangle and match up the
straight sides.
4. Repeat this process using the free-form select to divide your shape
vertically. |
| 5. Make a copy of your shape. Use the paint can to paint one section a
different colour. These two pieces will make up the base pieces for your
tessellation.
|
 |
 |
6. Copy and paste alternating pieces until you have built up a tessellation
several pieces wide and several pieces tall. If you were very careful when you
created your shape, and if you are very careful positioning the copied pieces,
you should be able to form a tessellated pattern with no blank spaces. |
