Details

Students used book Dear Rebecca, Winter is Here by Jean Craighead George to learn about story/letter writing skills. This provided a basis for students who could follow a pattern story letter or  they could be more "creative" in writing a letter to Grandma about an experience or event.

Students wrote letters and in their final copy used Calligrapher felt pens at a  Pioneer Writing Center.

Using Student Writing Center students could either copy their letter using a Calligraphy font or write another letter.

Letters can be printed and sent in an envelope with a Period "Paint" stamp (see Pioneers -Then and Now-Old Time Stamp)

These samples could be e-mailed to Key Pals as Grandmas and be answered in turn.

Note that handwriting versus the computer is the best technology contrast.
