Description
This activity uses a Treasure Hunt Map to communicate and apply terms of compass
direction. Students place locations on a treasure hunt map by following the
directions on the map. The follow up lesson(Treasure2)is also posted.

This activity is contained on one Paint file,
Treasure. For use on a network, this file should be installed in a
shared, read only directory on the server (WSD#1 uses S:\2Student). If you wish to
download this file, click on this link treasure.bmp.
After launching Paint and opening the file, click on the select tool from the tool bar.
Follow the directions on the right side of the screen. Select the underlined word
and place it in its correct location on the grid. Select only the underlined word.
You will notice that some of the words are too big to fit in the square. e.g. No.7.
lookout post. Selectlookout and drag it to its correct location.
Now select post and place it under the word lookout.
You may choose to drag the word to the grid, or use edit, copy, edit paste to
copy the word to its location and keep the directions untouched. Another option would be
to have the students draw a picture of the location on the grid rather than
moving the word.
