Details:
This lesson can begin with no preparation or can
involve creating shapes for the students before hand. Creating shapes can be done in
Windows Paintbrush or Windows 95 Paint. To be extremely precise, they can be created in
Logo.
The students can create nets that can be printed out and put together to make the actual
geometric shape. The students can access a file of already made shapes created by a
teacher and put on a drive accessible to all students. Alternatively the students may make
their own pieces that can be put together to form a net (see sample screen shot). The
students will need to use the copy and paste functions to make the number of pieces needed
to create their shape. They will then need to drag each of the pieces into its correct
position to form the net.
Extensions: (Literature Links, Further Explorations, etc.)
Use Logo to create the initial pieces for this activity.
Instead of using Paintbrush, use Logo to create the entire net.
