The teacher should prepare the pattern template before the lesson. Check the stamp pad as
it may be possible to create a pattern that has a seasonal theme - Halloween or Christmas.
You may prefer to import graphics from another program, or use graphics older children
have created.
Instruct the children in using the cutting tool. Which one is most appropriate?
Demonstrate how to drag objects with the mouse. As a preliminary activity, have the
children practice these skills by cutting and dragging objects they have drawn (free
exploration).
Introduce students to the pattern template. If this is an extension of the math lessons
the children will already be aware of patterning. Demonstrate how a pattern may be created
using the template. Is it possible to make another AB pattern? Try an AAB AAB AAB pattern.
Extensions: (Literature Links, Further Explorations, etc.
Have children create their own pattern templates to share with a friend.
