Students create clocks using KidWorks 2 Story

Details:
Review of basic computer parts (monitor, screen, CPU, keyboard, keys, mouse, windows,
icons, enter key, space bar, and shift key.)
Introduction to Creating a Clock :
In the lower left corner of the screen select the thick line tool.
Select a colour.
Select the box drawing tool.
Draw a perfect square using the shift key and box drawing tool.
Select a different colour.
Select the circle drawing tool.
Draw a circle by starting in one corner of the square holding shift and dragging the mouse
to the opposite corner of the square.
Reselect the colour used for the box.
Select the Ruler Tool.
Draw a diagonal line from one corner of the square to an opposite corner of the square.
Draw a second diagonal line from one corner of the square to an opposite corner of the
square.
Draw horizontal and vertical lines by beginning at the center or the circle (where the
diagonal lines cross).
Hold down the shift key while dragging from the center point to the sides of the box.
Reselect the circle colour.
Select the circle tool again.
Make a small circle in the center of the square. Start on one of the cross lines and drag
diagonally along the line to just past the center point.
Select the paint can.
Select white.
Paint the cross lines white.
Select the color of your choice.
Fill the small inner circle.
Select a new colour.
Select the type writer.
Click with the mouse at the top space in the large circle. Type the number 12.
Now click the mouse at the space on the right side of the circle. Type the number 3.
Now click the mouse at the space at the bottom of the circle. Type the number 6.
Now click the mouse at the space on the left side of the circle. Type the number 9.
Now use the mouse to insert the numbers 1,2,4,5,7,8,10, and 11.
Determine the time to be shown.
Now select the ruler tool. Starting in the center circle make a long minute hand and a
shorter hour hand.

Reinforce clock skills taught in the classroom.
Teach and reinforce making exact squares, circles and straight lines.
Teach and reinforce the use of paint over.
Teach and reinforce keyboarding using KidWorks 2.
Reinforce spacing, planning, and sequencing skills.
