Students will fit the four pieces of the butterfly image
together by selecting and dragging them into place. The butterfly was used for this lesson
because the class was studying butterflies at the time. Any relevant image may be used for
this activity. One piece will only fit if it is flipped. One piece will only fit if it is
rotated. The image to be manipulated must be selected. The student will then click on the
image menu and select the flip/rotate option. The selected image
is then changed to the proper attitude and then dragged into place.
Once the students have successfully completed this puzzle, they can draw their own image,
separate it, flip and/or rotate pieces, and create a new puzzle. The new puzzles can then
be solved by other students.
To download the butterfly image, click on this link Butterfly.bmp. (This image is not
available at this time.)
