The file fraction.bmp is stored on a 2Students/Read
Only/Shared Directory. Students may have already completed the activities found
under Math-Fractions which I have submitted as activities on this web site but this
activity can be completed independently. To download this file, click on this link Fraction.bmp.
Students cut out the piece representing 1/2 and use Edit/Copy Edit/Paste to make a copy of
the half piece. The half pieces are moved on top of the "whole". The
fraction 1/2 is also copied and moved on top of each of the half pieces. Students
then raise their hand so that the teacher or other recorder can mark off that they have
completed this portion of the lesson successfully.
Students then redo the above activity placing the 1/3 pieces on top of the 1/2 pieces
until the whole is again covered. The activity is then repeated with the 1/4 pieces.
