Details:

Working with a partner students open Windows'95 Paint.  The following files are stored in on the server in a  2Student - Read Only - Shared Directory - 1cookie.bmp, 2cookies.bmp, 3cookies.bmp and 4cookies.bmp.  Starting with 1cookie.bmp students are shown how to use the cutting tool to divide up the 1 cookie so that each partner will have an equal piece of cookie.  After the cookie is divided the pieces are moved apart and the students type their name under their share.  See sample.bmp.  Teachers may wish to have students stop and record in their math journal how and why they divided up the cookie(s) as they did.

Students then move on to the file 2cookies.bmp and repeat the process.  You can either print out the solutions or record their completions on a teacher recording sheet before they move onto the next file.
