This activity is filed in one Paint file,
"staircas.bmp", and should be filed in a shared, read-only directory on the
server, such as WSD's S:\2Student\. If you wish to download this file, click on this link staircas.bmp.
After launching Paint and opening the file, the teacher should review how to select a cube
or cubes with a selection tool and how to copy and paste that selection. Have the
students read the problem and re-state it in their own words. Students should ma
ke a prediction for how many cubes will be needed to solve the problem. If possible,
they should complete the table.
Using Paint's tools along with copy/paste, drag/drop, the students should
"build" the staircase to confirm their prediction or to help them solve the
problem.
