This activity is contained in one Math Tools file, “Areareg.mtf”  For use on a network, this file should be installed in a shared, read-only directory on the server (WSD#1 uses S:\2Student).  If you wish to download this file, click on this link: area3.mtf.

After launching Math Tools and opening the file children will calculate the area and perimeter of regular polygons.  They will then check their answers using the program’s calculation tool.

Student instructions are included in the file.

This lesson assumes that the students have prior knowledge of the Math Tools program.
