These activities are contained in two Microsoft Works 3.0 files. For use on a school local area network, these files should be installed in a shared, read only directory on the server(WSD#1 uses S:\2Student).  If you wish to download any of these files, click on these links: SPVTUNIT.WKS and/or SPVTLOOK.WKS.

SPVTUNIT.WKS is a spreadsheet that allows students to record pretest and posttest scores for five spelling units.  SPVTLOOK.WKS is a spreadsheet that allows students to record pretest and posttest scores for "Looking Back" units.  Both files are manipulated in the same fashion.

After launching Microsoft Works and launching SPVTUNIT.WKS, students should be directed to rename the file and save it to their class's usual saving place (WSD#1 usesT:\2teacher).  

Students enter their pretest and post-test scores in the appropriate cells (or boxes).   To see the chart or graph:

Click on VIEW
Click on CHART
Click on OK

The graph that appears will reflect the inputted scores.  Changes in the scores and/or unit numbers in the spreadsheet will automatically be reflected in the graph.  

Changing colours, patterns, axis reference points, etc. can be accomplished by utilizing aspects of the FORMAT drop down menu.

Clicking on FILE and then PRINT will print the graph.
