I interviewed my adopted grandmother, Brenda
Howat. Brenda is a retired Child
Psychologist.
Early years:
(1) What school did you go to?
I went to Laura Secord School.
(2) Did you date when you were a teenager?
Yes, why do you want to know that?
(3) How old were you when you dated?
About 15,
my parents hoped I’d never date.
(4) How old were you when you got glasses?
40ish, I
never wore glasses as a kid.
(5) What did you want to be when you grow up?
A Lawyer,
I liked to argue.
6) Did you ever
have braces when you were a kid?
Yes, when I was
about 11 years old.
(7) What was your favorite class in elementary?
Music, I still love music.
(8) What was your favorite class in high school?
Creative writing, I don’t think they teach this anymore.
(9) Were you in sports?
Only because I had to, I played basketball.
I didn’t like it very much.
(10) What movies did you like?
Horse Opera, Have you ever heard of this?
(11) When did you first get a TV in your home?
When I was 10 years old, in 1954. I watched Howdy Dowdy Time and the Lone
Ranger.
(12) What teacher did you like the most?
I liked my professor at University, Dr. Robson, who
convinced me that I should be a psychologist, not a lawyer or a writer.
