We have approximately 180 students at Ecole LaVérendrye from Nursery to Grade 6. I am fortunate this year to be able to schedule one class for K to 2 and at least two classes for Grades 3 to 6 in order to accomplish the outcomes listed below.

Teachers are able to schedule other times in the lab to complete class work.

In addition to the group skills listed below, we have a variety of French and English software ( a complete list of software is posted on the bulletin board in the Computer Lab) that is used as different stations to enrich learning goals.

Kindergarten

Develop basic computer awareness skills

Create, save and print art and word processing files from Kid Works 2

Introduction of various educational cd’s and programs including Early Math and Tangrams

Introduction of lego construction blocks based on modeled activities

First Grade

Expand computer awareness skills

Create, save and retrieve files

Present materials using story reader component of Kid Works 2.

Awareness of word processing, create text files, delete and insert, change font, insert pictures

"Introduction" to the Internet

Second Grade

Create letters and short stories in word processing, text alignment, use of color, insert clip art

Expand awareness of the Internet: retrieve and organize information

Introduction to multimedia software including Encarta and World Book

Introduction to Logo programming

Third Grade

Save to the server under the 2teacher drive

Create and edit properly formatted paragraphs and short reports, edit with spell check, text alignment, insert clip art, word art, print

Import graphics between programs

Begin keyboarding using the program All The Right Type

Create presentations that integrate with the 3rd grade curriculum

Use of Internet search tools to find information

Establish an email account

Fourth Grade

Word processing in depth: properly formatted letters, stories, essays. Edit with cut, copy and paste

Import graphics from various resources, Internet, digital camera, and scanner

Required use of both hands for all word processing projects, continued reinforcement of typing skills

Create presentations that integrate with the 4th grade curriculum

Use of Internet search tools to find information, download information and images to student files

Use email to communicate with other students

Introduce powered lego construction

Fifth Grade

Word processing for report writing, introduction to bibliographies, page set ups, margins

Retrieve lessons from the 2student drive

Import graphics from various resources, Internet, digital cameras, etc.

Use of a curriculum oriented database for storing, organizing, retrieving and analyzing data (search, sort)

Create graphs and charts

Use of Internet search tools to find information, download information and images to student files

Use email to communicate with other students

Introduce video film use and techniques

Create multimedia (Works, Publisher, Hyper Studio and/or PowerPoint presentations that integrate with the 5th grade curriculum

Sixth Grade

Continued use of word processing as a tool for productivity

Continued use of databases

Create original spreadsheets. Create formulas. Use the data in the spreadsheet for calculation and analysis

Continued use of video film and techniques

Create more advanced multimedia presentations multimedia (Works, Publisher, Hyper Studio and/or PowerPoint, Web Page) that integrate with the 6th grade curriculum, including graphics, animation, and transitions

More extensive use of Internet search tools to find information, download information and images to student files

Introduce Lego Robotics
